Some of our customers have been with Locus since we opened our doors in 1997. This means that some companies have trusted their sensitive environmental data to Locus Technologies for more than two decades! Consider how many uploads, calculations, and reports have been done in that time, not to mention how many different people worked with the data.

We recently analyzed the 22-year history of data loading for one of our corporate customers. We learned that 35 distinct organizations – both consultants and laboratories – have loaded data into this customer’s Locus cloud over the years. Many of those organizations no longer exist or are no longer in a working relationship with the customer. In fact, none of the organizations that were loading data to the customer’s Locus cloud in 2004 are still doing so today. In contrast, Locus was always there, providing one secure repository for the customer’s environmental data along with powerful applications for data loading, querying, and reporting.

Suppose you manage the environmental data for a large company with multiple consultants and laboratories, and you don’t use Locus software to store your data. Your data would likely be spread across disconnected data storage systems owned by your consultants, not by you. Each system would have its own configuration and standards, making it difficult to combine data into company-wide reports. Whenever a consultant leaves, you might have to pay them to retrieve your data. At the very least, you would spend time and resources merging that data with your own data storage. Also, you might not have access to tools for data loading, querying, and reporting. Your consultants might offer to develop custom applications for you, but again, there are hard costs involved, and you could lose access to those tools if the consultants leave.

As our recent analysis shows, business relationships are not inherently stable – especially as enterprises consolidate their vendors. When it comes to managing your data, you don’t want your data spread among multiple systems. You don’t want to be trying to extract your data from another firm if they are no longer working with you. Instead, you want a single system for data storage and reporting that is there for the long term, regardless of your current consulting agreements. You want Locus Technologies.

Locus is the only self-funded water, air, soil, biological, energy, and waste EHS software company that is still owned and managed by its founder. The brightest minds in environmental science, embodied carbon, CO2 emissions, refrigerants, and PFAS hang their hats at Locus, and they’ve helped us to become a market leader in EHS software. Every client-facing employee at Locus has an advanced degree in science or professional EHS experience, and they incubate new ideas every day – such as how machine learning, AI, blockchain, and the Internet of Things will up the ante for EHS software, ESG, and sustainability.
