Storage Tank Management (UST)

From initial installation to final closure, underground storage tank (UST) management is governed by complex federal, state, and local regulations. Although UST regulations have primarily evolved from the 1984 RCRA amendments, regulations at the state and local level can vary considerably.

Locus has extensive knowledge of regulatory policies and practices at all levels, and can save you time and money, while assisting you to comply with these UST requirements. Locus has the full range of services to implement every aspect of UST management programs, from compliance through investigation, remediation, and closure.

Areas of expertise provided by Locus include:

  • Underground storage tank projectSite assessment
  • Tank compliance programs
  • Site investigation
  • Tank removal
  • Pre-pull planning
  • Permitting
  • Contamination assessment
  • Risk assessment
  • Soil and groundwater mitigation
  • Risk Based Corrective Action (RBCA)
  • Construction management

Locus has experience with literally hundreds of USTs, making it possible for us to offer unit price and menu driven programs, if desired. Locus designs UST management services to minimize facility downtime and provide affordable solutions for the environmental concerns related to USTs.

Our experience with Risk-Based Corrective Action can save you thousands of dollars in corrective action costs. Following an initial pre-pull investigation, Locus personnel can determine if compounds of concern are present and streamline the tank removal and corrective action process. Thus, Locus can minimize not only your downtime, but also the associated financial impact. In addition to the services previously listed, Locus also performs the following tasks:

  • Preparing plans and specifications for tank removal, soliciting bids from and selecting contractors, monitoring contractor performance, and documenting contractual compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Implementing UST spill and leak investigation, remedial alternative evaluation, remedial design of selected remediation system, and remediation of soil, soil gas, and groundwater contamination.
  • Preparing or assisting with applications for funding from the California Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund.
  • Observing and documenting cleanup activities and performing post-cleanup monitoring.
