Locus Technologies has extensive experience in the design and implementation of site investigations for industrial/commercial facilities and residential areas. Site characterization and remediation is governed by a variety of federal and state regulations, including the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and the Toxic Substance Control Act (TSCA). Locus has completed projects under all of these regulatory programs and several others.
Our experience includes remedial investigations at CERCLA sites, RCRA facility investigations at operating chemical plants and refineries, and investigations for property transfers, brownfields and underground storage tanks. Site investigations can be completed for a variety of reasons, including regulatory orders, property transfers, and site closure. Locus customizes each investigation for the intended purpose, whether it is defining baseline conditions, delineating a suspected impact, or preparing a site for redevelopment.
Locus staff have detailed knowledge of a wide array of environmental sampling technologies for soil, soil-gas, air, surface water, and groundwater. We frequently use innovative technologies that save time and cost, including passive soil-gas cores and waste-minimizing passive diffusion bags. These technologies can often be integrated with traditional technologies to provide additional confidence in your data set.
The key to successful completion is designing the investigation to obtain the optimal amount of information without collecting an excessive number of samples. To optimize our investigations, Locus typically performs a statistical evaluation to determine the number of samples necessary to address the concerns of the regulatory agency and provide you with enough information to minimize your environmental liability.
