Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Reporting and Verification

The requirements and procedures for greenhouse gas reporting are complex and rapidly evolving. Locus sustainability experts are thoroughly familiar with state and federal GHG reporting requirements such as mandatory reporting to EPA and California Air Resource Board (CARB), as well as voluntary GHG reporting and reduction programs. Locus staff can ensure that your operations are compliant with the existing regulations and thus avoid potential violations and costly fines. Locus works closely with your staff at all levels to develop a greenhouse gas monitoring program with minimal impact on operations and complete compliance with reporting requirements. Locus is also a registered member of The Climate Registry, and has worked extensively with their Climate Registry Information System (CRIS).

Locus staff has expertise in the following areas:

  • Direct and indirect GHG emissions tracking and reporting for all emission sources, including refineries and cement plants
  • Electrical power transaction reporting
  • Fugitive emissions tracking
  • Clean Air Act tracking and reporting and consolidation of all environmental data into a single repository
  • Other gas tracking
  • Emissions source categories and estimation
  • GRI performance indicators
  • Verification of GHG inventory assertions in conformance with a specific standard or program (e.g. ISO 14064/14065, WRI/WBCSD Protocol accounting methodology for scopes 1, 2 and 3)
  • Accounting and reporting for all greenhouse gases
  • Comparative evaluation of options for minimizing emissions
  • Report emissions by financial, geographic and/or operational control
  • Data transactions for cap & trade programs

For the purpose of tracking and reporting GHG emissions, Locus has developed eGHG, a comprehensive software tool designed to meet GHG needs for all types of industries. This tool allows our clients instant 24/7 access to their GHG data and presentation-quality graphics summarizing their GHG status. With Locus maintaining and updating the GHG data, our clients can be confident that their GHG program is accurate and 100% compliant with current regulations.

GHG Verification

Locus' certified verification team can also be called upon as a third party to validate greenhouse gas emission reports. In the State of California, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) mandates that all emissions reports submitted in 2010 must be verified by a third party that has been accredited by CARB. Locus is one of few companies to maintain this accreditation, and has in-house Lead Verifiers certified in all specialization categories including refineries, cement plants, and electrical power retailers/marketers.

Other national and international GHG reporting programs have similar verification requirements, and Locus is constantly updating and attaining additional accreditations for GHG verification and reporting. Contact a Locus GHG professional to see how we can assist with your GHG verification or reporting needs.
