Executive Biographies

Neno Duplan
President & CEO

Neno DuplanDr. Duplan has more than 25 years of experience as a senior executive in environmental services and software companies. As a founder, president, and CEO of Locus Technologies, he brings extensive skills and expertise in the areas of strategic planning, environmental compliance, program management, computer science, the internet, energy, environmental and technology applications.

Prior to starting Locus Technologies, Mr. Duplan held senior management positions with Canonie Environmental (W.R. Grace Company), The IT Group and D'Appolonia Consulting Engineers. He worked on numerous large energy and engineering projects, ranging from nuclear power plants and offshore platforms design and construction worldwide, to some of the most challenging environmental problems in the world. His entrepreneurial skills were proven during the startup and subsequent growth and expansion of Locus. He realized the power of the Internet as it relates to environmental information management and positioned Locus to become a major player in this growing industry segment. His early work on environmental and geotechnical databases and visualization software, while a graduate student at Carnegie-Mellon, became a passion and lifetime professional career.

Mr. Duplan holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, an M.S. in Civil Engineering from Carnegie-Mellon and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Split, Croatia. He also attended advanced Management Training at Stanford University.

Rick Bergquist
Chief Software Evangelist and Board Member

Rick BergquistMr. Bergquist gained renown as a visionary technologist in his position as chief technology officer of the former PeopleSoft, Inc. As a founding father of one of the most successful software companies in the world, Mr. Bergquist brings to Locus Technologies advanced understanding of the power of applied technology and the business benefits it can bring to Locus customers. He uses his in-depth technical skills, experience, and technology vision to guide Locus’ commercial deployment of the environmental industry’s first and most comprehensive on-demand environmental data management portal.

Mr. Bergquist holds a B.S. in Computer Science (with Honors) from California Polytechnic State University and completed the Program for Management Development at Harvard Business School.

Marian Carr
Vice President, Information Management

Marian Carr Ms. Carr is responsible for development and deployment of Locus’ award-winning environmental ePortal solution, via a Software as a Service (SaaS) subscription delivery model, which has driven Locus’ rapid growth in environmental on-demand software services – demonstrated by more than 35,000 sites in the system, signing some of the world largest companies, and 100 percent customer retention in the last 5 years. Ms. Carr has been designing and leading environmental data management efforts since the early nineties and has been a guiding force in Locus’ recent phenomenal success. She has been the key customer manager on many of Locus’ Fortune 100 enterprise deployments and directs the EIM (Environmental Information Management), eSite and ePortal product lines.

Ms. Carr’s environmental domain expertise and customer focus have resulted in new, and repeat, customers and continued growth for Locus’ Information Management Group. Ms. Carr’s expertise in environmental information management, combined with Locus’ visionary leadership, helps Locus to continue to drive the environmental compliance industry transformation to hosted web-based solutions, enabling customers to drive more value with less investment.

Ms. Carr holds an M.S. in Environmental Science from Washington State University and a B.S. in Political Economy of Natural Resources (with honors) from the University of California, Berkeley.

Ena Cratsenburg
Board Member

Ena Cratsenburg Ms. Ena Chan Cratsenburg is the Vice President of Business Development at Amyris (www.amyris.com), a renewable products company that is developing and commercializing a slate of renewable transportation fuels, including diesel and jet fuels, as well as renewable chemicals for various end applications. In this role, Ena is responsible for identifying and developing opportunities for potential collaboration in the Fuels and Chemicals business. Prior to joining Amyris, she was Director of Business Development for Pixar Animation Studios where she led efforts to develop and grow partnerships for the monetization of Pixar's intellectual property assets. Prior to Pixar, Ena spent nine years at BP and Amoco Oil Company where she held various managerial positions within the Refining and Marketing Segment, including head of Business Development for U.S. Commercial Fuels as well as Area Operations Manager for distribution terminals in seven Midwest states.

Ena holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and an MBA from Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

J. Wesley Hawthorne
Vice President, Consulting and Engineering Services

J. Wesley Hawthorne Mr. Hawthorne is the head of Locus' consulting and engineering division, which provides a wide range of services to private and public clients. Over the past decade with Locus, Mr. Hawthorne has emerged as a leader in providing unique, cost-effective solutions to complex environmental problems. Working with a carefully selected team of professionals, Mr. Hawthorne has taken a direct hand in guiding these projects, applying Locus' suite of software tools and other innovative tools such as cutting-edge analytical methods and remedial technologies.

Mr. Hawthorne's work has covered the areas of site investigation, remedial design and implementation, and strategy development, as well as customized solutions to address specific client needs. His approach and comprehensive knowledge of environmental subjects have impressed client representatives ranging from large multi-national corporations to small businesses and public agencies. He maintains an impressive level of repeat business and referrals from clients, based on his ability to achieve his client's demanding cost and performance goals.

Mr. Hawthorne holds an M.S. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University and B.S. degrees in Geology and Geological Engineering from Purdue University. He is registered both as a Professional Engineer and Professional Geologist.
