What is eWell?

Locus Technologies' eWell is a PDA and Internet-based application for recording field measurements and water level data in the field.

eWell is based on the popular PalmTM operating system and can be provided on a number of different personal digital assistants (PDAs), including wireless PDAs and PDAs with barcode scanning capabilities.

eWell is fully integrated with Locus’ EIM environmental data system to streamline collection and management of field collected environmental data.

eWell helps speed data collection, increase accuracy, and reduce collection time for field data.

How Does It Work?

eWell consists of two components: a standalone application, which resides on the user's PDA, and a web-based module for uploading, downloading, and reviewing data. Users of eWell download sampling route and historical water level information from the application onto their PDAs. Instant access in the field to recent measurements, historical highs and lows, and well construction information assists field personnel to evaluate the validity of their measurements. In the field, the PDAs are used to record water levels, field parameters, and comments, as well as to compare current with past values.

Back in the office, data collected in the field is uploaded onto the web through cradle synchronization, eliminating data transcription errors and speeding data entry to the project team. If the PDA is equipped with a wireless Internet connection, synchronization can happen in real time.
