Are you subject to California Air Resources Board's Mandatory GHG Reporting? Find out with Locus' CO2 estimator
If your facility is not one covered by sector applicability such as for operators of cement plants, petroleum refineries, hydrogen plants, electricity generating facilities, retail providers, marketers, or cogeneration facilities and you want to check if you may be subject to CA ARB Mandatory GHG Reporting per 95101 (b)(8):
"Operators of other facilities in California that emit greater than or equal to 25,000 metric tonnes per year of CO2 from stationary combustion sources in any calendar year after 2007."
For applicability details, click here or read the complete regulation at the CA ARB website.
You can use the rough calculator bellow to determine if you may be included. Select all fuels that you use for stationary combustion (such as boilers, heaters, flares, ICE, turbines, ect.) and list your fuel usage during calendar year in question.
Please remember not to include the fuel used in:
Portable Equipment
Backup or emergency generators.
Also keep in mind that the following are exempt from reporting:
Electricity generating facilities that are solely powered by nuclear, hydroelectric, wind,
or solar energy;
Hospitals where NAICS code starts with 62;
Primary and secondary schools with a NAICS code of 611110.
For each of your fuels used in stationary combustion, use the following steps:
- Select fuel
- Enter annual throughput (fuel use) in specified units (if MMBtu available instead of mass/volume of fuel, select units in "kg CO2 /MMBtu" before entering throughput value)
- Click on Calculate
- Click on Add to Total
- Repeat steps 1-4 for every fuel used

Additional regulations apply for specific types of facilities. If you have any questions regarding your CA applicability or other GHG reporting requirements, click here to email one of Locus' GHG experts.
